3D Work

 3D Work

As I started my 3D work, I had difficulty thinking of a good idea for the set, characters and possible story of it all. Though I did not finish my work fully by the end of the deadline due to my slow production and confusion I had with my work, also forgetting and not having working resources to take up-to-date pictures of my work.

I had to scrap ideas quite a few times until thinking of a possible two to choose.
The first idea I had was linked to pollution, making a power plant out of cardboard, paper, mod-rock, tissue paper etc. Though I couldn't think of a story that would link to it and how the set would link to my character, so I scrapped it and began to think of a better story and set to make.
The second idea that I settled on had the set of a room with multiple pictures and frames on the walls, the design of the 'room' supposedly to be around the early 1900's, linking to the pollution in that timeline. I thought of how the character controlled the world outside of the 'room' on his mood and choices, the pollution state being the because of the character having a depressing and crises time of their life, oblivious to what they were doing.

I was happy with the idea I was planning to do and had finished my design and character, my character being able to move when handled carefully. Though setting out the designs and making the sets had made me work slowly since I was wanting to be precise, throwing away measurements and designs that had some mistakes on them. (This possibly being the reason why I didn't fully complete the work).

Throughout, I was unsure what materials to use on the set, repeating measurements due to my set having a strange curve on the base. I thought of printing off wood designs for the floor and pictures for the frames but by now I was too close to the deadline. I had weaved out a brown floor from brown paper, having the look of a wooden floor with a repeating design as well as a hand made a fireplace to put into the set even though it was still unfinished.

Overall I wanted to do much more with my designs and work, but had just ran out of time and was unable to finish it by the deadline, even though I had good ideas that would've finished the work quicker, maybe within one last day. If I was to improve on it I would've taken my work home a lot more, worked harder much quicker and settled on designs and stories faster.

Cyber Bullying Cards

CYBER BULLYING

I did my final designs for Cyber-Bullying cards, using the idea and drawing images of a nice background of mountains and hill on a computer screen with a shadowed figure looking at it. Then I scanned it ready to be edited in Photoshop and Illustrator.

I also put in the grim and true twist of cyber bullying, the 'Chat' box symbolizing it. I added on the chat box in Photoshop over the scanned drawing of what was what going to be on the computer screen.

After I edited the background drawing onto the computer screen drawing I added in the shadowed figure, using blurring effects on it so it looked more anonymous, as well as adding the 'noise' affect onto the computer screen. I moved the figure slightly over the screen enough so it looked like it was looking at the screen, but the viewers could also see some of what was on it. (e.g. the text, nice background).

Once I had put the scanned images together I changed their contrasts and colour 'curves' separately until I flattened them into one image and changed the contrast and colour levels again and using the 'burn' tool to add some shadows, soon finishing the image off.

Having finished the main image I began to write out what would be on the other side of the card. Facts, information, percentages, logos of websites etc. linking to cyber bullying. My aim for the information I put down was to teach the reader new facts on the subject, even if they do or don't relate to cyber bullying.

Overall I think I had good ideas by the end of my work, able to settle on a good design and how it would look to the viewer.
What I would've better would've been the design on the text side of the card. I would've put more work into having a better font, effects and background colour, and I would've been able to achieve this if I had paid attention to the deadline better.
