Video's of putting distress onto student covers

Add caption
These are the distress images I used to give my learner survival guide, or how I've renamed it, college intelligence holder, to look more worn and old, maybe even a little strange or intimidating to some people. Finding the right kind of distress effects took some thought and looking, some of the distress effects I picked out didn't really work out or look right when I eventually used them on my cover, so I then just re-used the ones that actually worked and had good effects.

Trying this distress effect caused it to
turn out weird, as it looked like it
was some rubbed out effect, it looked strange and
didn't have much effect, and the effect was
mostly in the middle of the design, though
I wanted it to be around the edges equally
to give it a better look and effect.
These scratched and dotted designs are two effects side by side, and I tried both, the left effect was very prominent and stood out quite a bit on my covers when I used them, so I re-used this design quite a few times with my other cover designs, the the thick black outline looked a bit weird and not right on my cover, so I tried expanding it to get rid of the look as best as I could. The effect on the right had a good effect of distress to my covers too, though not as strong or prominent, but was still effective and made me satisfied with how it was done.

With these two effects, they were both pretty effective
and good to use on my cover, I flipped them about to
determin what would look best and I eventaully
used them a few times at different angles. They
gave a good distressed cracked effect, like my cover
had been designed on a brick wall or a plank of wood
that cracked.
This pavement looking effect was very strong and I tried to
soften its effects as best as I could, though
it didn't look right on my covers so I didn't
use it first choice unlike the other designs.

These are my successful videos of the process of me adding stress to my covers in their Bauhaus design.

Bauhaus Research

I found the colour pallet interesting and
very good with how they've all fitted and
coordinated together, along with the
clever design involved in the text, some large
text in the background and smaller more
detailed text in front with most of where
the design is happening.
I found this bauhaus design very effective even though it's design is simple and not too crowded with only 3 main prmary colours being used in it, along with the clever design of the title 'bauhaus' being mixed in with the deisgn, also making the text part of the design.

I researched old and modern bauhaus designs to use as inspiration and reference for developing ideas of making my own bauhaus design for a cover.
There are different elements to the bauhaus designs and style, some are quite plain and simple, using few colours, lines, text shapes etc. when others can be quite busy, bright, dark, eye catching, using patterns simple or complicated and advanced looking. Though all designs by or inspired by bauhaus are quite eye-catching and use many different colour pallets, both the old and new.

Surreal clay sculpture into mod rock sculpture

I made a clay sculpture replicating the shape of a skull, but I then made it abstract by changing the shape of it a little, making points on top of the skull, replicating horns a little, making the eye sockets into one wide one including making the maxilla part of the skull longer and a little pointy, then adding in some thick wire so it looked like it was coming out, sticking out of the clay model skull.

I then tried to replicate the clay model by making it into a wire model, around the same size, using thin wire, though I would use this wire model as reference to make my larger wire model of the abstract skull.
The larger wire skull was made using thick wire, medium wire and a thin wire which I used with also an even skinner wire to just wrap all around out to help it take better shape. I have since then out mod rock on the larger model and it is taking good shape and I'm confident with how it is turning out along with how my clay and wire models have.

The final result of the dried mod rock around the wire model has turned out ok in my opinion, the shape is a bit strange in some places, but overall I think it's turned out well, especially wth the paints of it.
The sketch included mine and three other peoples work of mod rock and wire or tissue and wire.

Figure Drawing

In figure drawing I was encouraged to draw with a stick with charcoal taped to the end again with the paper on the floor, this time using different colours, so I do understand why my drawings came out a bit uneven and strange, though I know there could be a lot of room for improvement, I'm kinda happy they turned out better then I thought they would.
On my last drawing I used charcoal and chalk, both taped to either end of the stick I was using, using the chalk for the highlights of the model.
